Today, more than 500 individuals from across Quebec are taking part in the provincial edition of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, presented by Proxim. This marks the 19th edition of the Challenge, a great wave of solidarity and hope for cancer-stricken children coping with hair loss due to chemotherapy.
“Beyond the fundraiser and the shaving in itself, participants become, through their new look, ambassadors of the cause for several weeks to come. This is a tremendous commitment on their part,” says Dominic Paquet, spokesperson of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge for 8 consecutive years.
Among the 11 official shaving sites open today across the province, our largest venue is the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, with 115 participants registered. The money raised will enable Leucan to provide a range of support services to cancer-stricken children and their families, in addition to funding research in pediatric oncology.
Additional dates to take on the Challenge
People can still sign up for one of 30 additional Challenges scheduled in the upcoming months, or plan a Personalized Challenge and choose the date, time, place, and outreach of their event.
Leucan wishes to highlight the generosity of Proxim, the presenting sponsor of the event for a 4th year; Mia for creating the Earrings of Hope for a 5th year and donating the sales proceeds to the Association; Subway for providing meals to volunteers at our shaving sites; and stand-up comedian Dominic Paquet, the Challenge’s provincial spokesperson.
