A heartfelt thank you to the CDPQ for supporting our school awareness and support program for the next three years.
Thanks to the generosity of the CDPQ, we will be able to help children with cancer return to school, support their well-being and enable them to continue their academic lives, despite their illness and treatment.
Helping children with cancer get through school more easily
Illness causes many disruptions in the daily lives of children and their families. For example, when a child is diagnosed with cancer, he or she often has to be absent from school for long periods, creating difficulties and anxiety in his or her academic progress. That’s why Leucan has set up the school awareness and support program.
The presence of a Leucan advisor in the classroom is often welcome at the time of diagnosis, when the child is suddenly withdrawn from school, but also when he or she returns to class, to support the child and make his or her classmates aware of his or her new reality and the physical and psychological changes he or she has undergone.
In 2021-2022, Leucan accompanied 118 affected children in their school environment and raised awareness of pediatric cancer among some 3,000 schoolchildren.
