In addition to providing an opportunity for children undergoing treatments to relax and get reacquainted with comforting touch, massage therapy also reduces pain and stress and improves immune functions.

Massage therapy services are available to every member of the family, both at the hospital and at home, and to bereaved families. Massages are administered by a team of professional massage therapists trained in techniques for cancer patients.

How to access this service?

Massage therapy is offered free of charge to all member families.

At the hospital

Massage therapists are available at the four pediatric oncology centres in Quebec: CHU Sainte-Justine, Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), Centre mère-enfant Soleil du CHUQ, and Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS).

Massage therapists introduce themselves to families during the first days of hospitalization. You may also contact them through your medical team or the staff of Leucan.

Back at home

Leucan’s massage therapy services are available practically across Quebec. Please contact your Leucan Advisor to arrange for the services once your family is back home. Massage therapy at home is available to cancer-stricken children, as well as to their parents and siblings to alleviate the stress arising from cancer and its effects.
