Leucan Expedition to Ecuador
*The hikes are of intermediate level: good physical condition, good health and adequate preparation are required. Hiking at high altitudes, especially above 5,000 m, carries the risk of discomfort or altitude sickness. Just as treatment imposes a difficult journey on children with cancer, the Expedition represents a physical challenge which, in its own way, honours and embodies their courage, strength and determination.

Foundraising
The participant agrees to raise a minimum of 3,000$ for Leucan. Leucan will be pleased to issue tax receipts to your donors, but only for the portion donated to Leucan.
- A tax receipt will be issued for all donations of 2$0 or more, or on request, and is reserved for the donor.
- To issue a tax receipt, the donor must not have received anything in exchange (e.g., a gift, visibility, etc.).

Who can participate
This challenge is open to all adults who care about children with cancer. Hikes are at intermediate level. Please consult the itinerary for details of the planned hikes (walking time, altitude difference, etc.). Physical fitness, good health and adequate preparation are required. Hiking at high altitudes, especially above 5,000 m, entails the risk of discomfort or altitude sickness.
IMPORTANT: By registering for the Leucan Expedition, participants agree that photos and videos taken during the trip may be used for promotional purposes on television or social networks to represent the Association and the Expedition.
Please note that all guides will speak exclusively in French, so it’s essential that every member of the group understands and speaks the language to ensure a smooth and rewarding experience for all.
Training
In order to be well prepared for the climb, Terra Ultima will accompany climbers on a preparatory outing to measure the participants’ progress. In preparation for this outing, as well as for the trip itself, it is advisable to follow a tailor-made training plan. If you wish, you can work with a trainer to develop a plan that will lead you to your ultimate goal. The steps will vary according to your fitness history, age, gender, BMI, etc.
In addition to your preparation, which will take place in the gym or at home if you have a minimum of equipment, remember that there’s no better training for the mountains… than doing mountains! We encourage participants to hike regularly on forest and mountain trails to prepare their ankles, muscles and cardio for the real challenge. These outings are ideally done in the same clothes and equipment you’ll be wearing during the expedition.
In addition to hiking, running, cycling and cross-country skiing, these are great additions to your preparation routine.

“The Leucan Expedition gave me an extraordinary experience. (…) I had to find the strength, determination and willpower within myself to get through certain stages of the journey. The feeling of accomplishment and pride was worth all the effort. This trip to Vietnam will serve as a springboard and reference for the future.”
