As part of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, June 15, 2024, the members present will elect representatives on Leacan’s Board of Trustees. This decision is important because it allows you to choose those who will represent you. It is also a very interesting opportunity for involvement, for those who would like to actively participate in the advancement of the Association. Please note that all candidates must be bilingual as all of the Board’s activities are conducted in French.

The members of the C.A. put their expertise at the service of the children of Leucan, they play a decisive role and help advance the Association.

This year, five director positions are in election. As indicated in the statutes and by-laws, the desired number of candidates who obtain plurality of votes, for each category of members, is elected, first of all by filling the minimum representativeness of the positions of active members.

The Board of Trustees has established selection criteria for the recruitment of its candidates:

  • Be able to participate in the 5 annual meetings of the Board of Trustees, 3 of which must be in person at Leucan’s head office;
  • Be actively involved in one committee among the following: human resources; audit ; Services, research and partnerships; philanthropic development and communications (minimum of 4 meetings per commitee);
  • Enrich the Association, leveraging its network of contacts and/or specific expertise in philanthropy, communications and marketing, human, financial or technological resources management.
  • Prior experience as a Director is an asset, but an onboarding plan is planned and facilitates understanding of the mandate and responsibilities associated with a Director role;
  • In order to avoid putting additional pressure on an applicant and his or her family, the AC prefers that the applicant refrain from applying in the event that a member of his or her immediate family is in the treatment phase or in a relapse.

As Article 28.1 of the Statutes and By-laws now indicates, it is important that the composition of the Board be as close as possible to that of our membership. In this regard, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from people from ethnocultural diversity. As for the expertise sought at present, we are looking for candidates with legal expertise, specifically as lawyers.

If you are interested in the challenge, submit your application by filling out the following form by May 1, 2024.

A member of the nominating committee will contact each of the candidates to get to know you better and to share more about the current issues and priorities. This will allow candidates to be assessed based on the needs of the board of directors and its committees.

On behalf of Leucan’s children and their families, I would like to thank you for the time you have taken to reflect on this initiative.

Magalie Bourdeau,
President of the Association

The application period is now closed. Thank you for your interest!
