The seventh edition of the event raised over $50,000 to support children with cancer and their families.

Kevin Raphaël had set a goal of raising $50,000 for Leucan with the KR7 Classic, the seventh edition of his annual charity hockey event. On August 6, the comedian, host and now president of Montreal’s new women’s professional hockey franchise met that goal.

NHL stars, professional women hockey players and personalities from the Quebec cultural world answered Kevin Raphaël’s call and gathered at the Centre d’excellence Sports Rousseau, in Boisbriand, to support children with cancer.

The result: 1,200 tickets sold, $54,727 raised and a memorable day for the spectators, including 13-year-old Laurence. Laurence inspired the creation of the event, according to its creator, who met her when she was five years old, in the midst of her battle with leukemia. Since then, Laurence has beaten her disease and participates in the event every year.

The Classic has raised over $120,000 since its inception and continues to grow. This year, three games were on the program for the day, including a new women’s hockey showcase. The day was also televised on TVA Sports for the first time. One of the players, Vincent Desharnais, even did his Shaved Head Challenge, on site, during the event!

A huge thank you to our amazing ambassador Kevin Raphaël, as well as to the volunteers, athletes and artists who went above and beyond in support of Leucan’s families.

We are already looking forward to next year!
