On the eve of the new year, Leucan is offering the public the opportunity to have a significant impact on clinical research in pediatric oncology. In fact, the Cole Foundation will triple each donation made before the end of 2022, up to a maximum of $40,000. A generous gesture that has a tangible impact on increasing the survival rate of children with cancer.
“Thanks to clinical research, Laurence is still with me today.
In January 2021, an emergency MRI revealed that three-year-old Laurence had a tumor in her cerebellum. Six days after her admission to the emergency room, the little girl went to the operating table and the diagnosis became clear: medulloblastoma.
“It is a very aggressive form of cancer in children. Laurence’s treatments have been adapted to her condition,” explains Stéphanie, Laurence’s mother.
Laurence is a concrete example of the importance of investing in clinical research. These investments allow children to receive the best treatments in the world and give their families a little hope.
In Laurence’s case, treatments included surgery, intensive chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, rehabilitation. The last two years have been anything but normal for the family. But through the storm, Laurence’s resilience shone through.
“She has never lost her smile. She’s a joker,” concludes Stephanie.

By 2023, approximately one family per day in Quebec will be diagnosed with cancer in their child and will enter the same storm as Laurence’s family.
Clinical research has led to significant progress, so much so that the survival rate for children with cancer is now 82%, whereas when Leucan was founded 44 years ago, it was only 15%. This progress has been possible thanks to the unwavering support of the population.
One donation = three times the impact
This year, Leucan and the Cole Foundation are joining forces and offering the public a chance to make a triple impact. For each donation, the Cole Foundation will triple the amount, up to $40,000.
Leucan is pleased to continue its partnership with the Cole Foundation once again this year. The Association hopes that the triplicate donation program will encourage the public to end the year 2022 on a high note by supporting children with cancer and their families.
