On the occasion of Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day celebrating generosity, Leucan invites supporters of the cause to send a greeting card to the families of children with cancer along with a donation that will be DOUBLED by the Jaclyn Fisher Foundation, up to $35,000. These messages will brighten the day of the children and will bring love and support to the families who will have to spend the holiday season at the hospital, at the bedside of their child.

“It’s like a second mortgage.”

In addition to the isolation that is accentuated during the holiday season, the disease causes immense financial strain for affected families, especially for those who live far from major hospitals.

This is the reality for Jayden’s parents who travel back and forth between Mont-Laurier and Montreal to be with their child during his treatment. Between travel, babysitting costs for siblings, unpaid leave, hospital meals and more, the financial burden of the illness adds to the immense stress felt by parents, especially in the current environment of inflation.

“To bring Jayden to Montreal, I had calculated what it would cost us. Travel is $1,200 a month. It’s like a second mortgage,” says Sophie Leblanc, mother of the young boy diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Wishing to raise awareness about the harsh reality of families whose child has cancer, Sophie and Jayden have generously accepted to be the spokespersons of Giving Tuesday for Leucan. Read their moving story here.

“You sign the paperwork, everything moves fast. It takes several days to realize what’s going on. Leucan helped us with the sick leave and to find our bearings in the storm,” adds the mother.

On this global day of giving, the impact of contributions will be even greater for families like Jayden’s.

The Jaclyn Fisher Foundation doubles donations to Leucan for Giving Tuesday

For the second year in a row, the Jaclyn Fisher Foundation is committed to doubling the donations made to Leucan for Giving Tuesday.

The Association hopes that the matching gift program will encourage the public to join the movement of generosity and send messages of support to its member families as they weather the storm of a lifetime.
