When your child is diagnosed with cancer, it can be comforting to talk to other parents who have been through it. To help you through this ordeal, Leucan offers a peer-help program. This program brings together families who share a similar experience, in a spirit of listening, respect and openness. It’s a place where you can feel understood, normalize what you’re feeling, and draw a little hope from the experience of those who have already traveled this road.
A distinctive 3-part offer
- Information capsules: filmed with the help of peer helpers and focusing on specific topics, information capsules will serve as tools that counselors can pass on to families, according to their needs.
- Virtual support groups: co-facilitated by a peer helper and a counselor, virtual support groups encourage listening and sharing to break down feelings of loneliness.
- One-to-one twinning: under the guidance of the counselors in charge of the service, twinning enables participants to exchange ideas with a peer helper who has been through a similar experience.
