Chosen by the peer counsellors, the name The Leucan Navigators represents a strong symbol and a sense of belonging and unity. Mutual aid and benevolence are at the heart of their commitment.
Here’s the profile you need to become a The Leucan Navigators :
Be a parent, sibling or extended family member (e.g. grandparents) of a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer, or have been diagnosed with pediatric cancer yourself;
Be able to step back from the experience (child’s treatment completed at least 1 year ago);
A desire to share and pass on their experience.
All peer companions are recruited through an interview process, and are then trained, monitored and supported by the Leucan Family Services Advisor in charge of the service.
