Leucan-CSN Summer Camp
In 1985, we created the only family summer camp in Quebec for children with cancer and their families now known as the Leucan-CSN Summer Camp.
For Leucan families across Quebec, this camp is their only chance at having real holidays and forgetting if only for a moment the illness. The Leucan-CSN Summer Camp is adapted to their situation and needs by providing an onsite medical team of five doctors and twelve nurses. Always present, they make this holiday possible since many children are undergoing treatment at camp. Treatment and oncology care are provided with love and professionalism. Families can therefore feel secure and enjoy themselves, exchange and share these moments with peace of mind.
Over 120 volunteers give their precious time so that Leucan families can have a magical and memorable holiday. The entire camp personnel pulls out all the stops to help families recharge their batteries for the upcoming year! As well, this unique camp allows families to mingle with others who are in a similar situation so that they don’t feel like they are all alone facing this disease.
Every year, the camp explores a special theme. Programming is varied and geared to all age groups with activities adapted to their specific needs and capabilities. Two one-week holidays are held at the beginning of August with over 60 families being accommodated each week. It is important to note that CSN contributes financially to the camp through its annual t-shirt sale, among other activities.
