In the Public Eye

Leucan plays an active role in diverse public forums within Quebec’s healthcare network and elsewhere, by heading or financing research projects, or participating in workshops, conventions, conferences, and meetings, etc. This allows Leucan to consolidate its role in the public eye by sharing its expertise, educating the public on the needs of pediatric oncology, gathering knowledge, and keeping up to date with developments in the field, as well as joining forces with others in the fight against cancer. Leucan’s Management includes a person dedicated to research and partnering with the healthcare network.

Lobbying Activities

Leucan drives various lobbying activities to promote the interest and rights of children with cancer and their families. In December 2002, following the presentation of its report for the revision of labour standards (Mémoire sur la révision des normes du travail), Leucan obtained that the law be modified so that parents whose child is seriously ill are protected for a 104-week period (when they have to be away from work to care for their child).
