Leucan 12-Hour Ski Challenge
March 12, 2016
Four different regions, on four mountains across Quebec
What is the Leucan 12-Hour Ski Challenge, presented by Proxim? One date, four mountains, 12 hours of ski or snowboarding and several activities, but more specifically it’s a gesture of solidarity towards cancer-stricken children and their families. It’s also a fun, participative and family-oriented opened to people of all ages.
Participating is easy: gather a team of one to four and collect a minimum of $500 in donations for Leucan.
With more than 50 head-shaving sites across Quebec the D-Day of the Challenge, this event is without a doubt THE most important one in Quebec where people have their heads shaved to support the cause of children with cancer. It is the largest of its kind not only because of the number of participants and the amount of money raised, but also for the number of sites operating simultaneously.
Challenges are also held by groups in companies and schools on dates of their choice.
Beyond its fundraising objective to support Leucan’s numerous services offered in all Quebec regions, as well as clinical research, the Challenge is a gesture of solidarity towards children with cancer who undergo changes to their body image such as hair loss during chemotherapy. This gesture has a major impact on sick children and helps to play down changes to their body image by encouraging them to accept treatment and by helping them to better adapt to everyday life.
